Search Tips

  • Browse digitized archival materials by clicking on the "Digital Materials" tab located in the menu bar above. If available in one of our repositories, click the “Digital Object” link to access.
  • Search terms are not case sensitive.
  • To search for an exact phrase, use double quotes. (For example: "Hoop Rolling" or "Katharine Lee Bates").
  • To find materials that include all of your search terms, use the word AND between the terms.
  • To exclude a term from your search, put a minus sign in front of it. (For example, the search "protest" -divestment will find materials with the phrase "protest" that do not include the word "divestment".)
  • Asterisks can be used as a wildcard character, meaning that a search for "w*m*n" will return results including "woman," "women," "womyn," "wimmin", etc.
  • Create advanced searches by clicking the "+" button to the right of the date range to add a search row.
