Scope and Contents

From the Collection: Records of the Class of 1909, dating from 1909 to 1969, consisting of admission and course materials, correspondence, clippings, notebooks, photographs, photograph albums, programs, and scrapbooks; concerning class meetings and the social and academic activities of members of the class as undergraduates, and information on reunions, careers and activities of members of the class as alumnae. Includes a map of Class Trees through 1932. Of note are the papers of Sophia M. Robinson, who was a social worker and the national Executive Director of the National Council of Jewish Women in the 1940s.

Biographical / Historical

Ruby Willis lived in Reading, Massachusetts. While at Wellesley she was on the Board of Directors of the Debating Club. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and worked as a graduate assistant in the Psychology Department at Wellesley from 1909-1910, and a math teacher at Franklin High School (Franklin, Massachusetts) from 1910-1911, and at Swampscott High School (Swampscott, MA) from 1911-[date unknown]. She worked as a math instructor from 1921-1925, and taught at the Walnut Hill School (Natick, Massachusetts) from 1925-[date unknown]. She was a member of the Boston Wellesley Club. She was on the Board of Directors of the Wellesley Students' Aid Society in 1926, and from (at least) 1929-1944, Ruby Willis served as the Society's Treasurer.
