Scope and Contents
Collection consists of the records of the Coordinator of Special Events, dating from 1936, 1950-1981. Includes files on Wellesley College events such as academic convocations, admissions events, lecture programs, awards events, alumnae events, art exhibitions and festivals, dance, music, and theater performances, Centennial events, conferences and symposiums, Commencement-Reunion Weekends, and inaugurations of college presidents Ruth Adams and Barbara Newell.

Biographical / Historical
The office of Coordinator of Special Events was created in 1962, and was first filled by Jean Glasscock, alumna of the Class of 1933, who had previously held (and continued to hold) the title of Director of Publicity. In 1978, while the position was held by Margaret Galloway Lafferty, the position title changed to Director of Special Events. As of 2020, the position has evolved into the Director of Events Management, who is a part of the Events and Scheduling Office.
