Biographical / Historical

The Wellesley Widows were founded by at least two members of the Class of 1952, Ruth Bettman Kassel and Lois Liebeskind Levine. The group originally had only eight members, as opposed to its current (as of 2020) fifteen members. The exact date of the Wellesley Widows' founding is unknown, but the May 4th, 1950 edition of The Wellesley News references the group’s “inception in January [1950].”
